Yousef: Hey guys, Yousef here coming to you from Gateway YWCA just for this working out and I wanted to just record this quick message. I’m out here. It’s kind of windy out here today, but I love being out in the mornings, but anyway, want to talk about what to do if you’re facing foreclosure. Now, understandably, foreclosure can be a very stressful process to go through and it’s very tempting for many people to just throw their hands up and walk away from the whole situation, leaving the house behind, letting the bank just take care of the problem, but here’s the thing. When you do that, you’re walking away from all of your hard earned equity, you’re walking away from memories and if you’re not going to stay in the home at the very least, work with someone or consult with an attorney, like my attorney Patty Dobbins, who can give you a free consultation and just let you know what options are available to you.
Now, there are companies out there like mine who will buy homes in as is condition that are in pre-foreclosures, what we like to call them. You’ve gotten the notice from the bank already and you know kind of it’s inevitable that the process is going to happen if you don’t pay whatever’s owed in whatever payments, back payments, that you owe. What my company does is, and what many companies out here can do, is pay to catch your mortgage up and work something out with you, like maybe at least option or just buy the home outright.
I’m not going to make it too long, but just know that you have options available to you. One of the options that I would suggest you not exercise is walking away from the property. Again, don’t succumb to the stress of the situation. Get someone that’s competent, that understands the process and someone that can advise you as to your rights and what you can do. That way, if anything, you can get something out of the property in terms of the equity you put in the property or walk away and salvage your credit. No one wants to damage their credit cause regardless of how you feel right now, later on down the road, you may want to buy another home for you and your family.
